As a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I’m proud to support legislation to ensure that no one is discriminated against due to sexual orientation or gender identity. Throughout my time in public office and while serving in the North Carolina General Assembly, I have worked to advance LGBTQIA+ equality, with efforts like expanding North Carolina’s hate crime law to include hate crimes motivated by sexual orientation & gender identity bias. The rise in anti-LGBTQIA+ attacks and discriminatory state laws have continued to highlight the urgent need to push back against these attacks and move equality forward by enshrining federal protections related to employment, health, housing, education, federal funding, credit and more into law.
